New Sketchabilites

Today there is a new post up with a really fun
twist on using a die cut and i really loved playing
along with this idea!  There is lots of flowers and places
to put embellishments so I picked some of my favorite
papers and stickers from Basic Grey and had fun...

Here is the sketch this time...

and here is my take on it...

Title: Good Company on a journey
makes the way seem shorter....

My inspiration started with the word sticker and I picked
this fun photo of some of the talented and amazing
girls that I met on our Spellbinders retreat this spring..
Just let me say they are even more amazing in person...
so sweet, so nice and sooo fun too!!!

but on to the page of the day...
I cut my own die cut shaped pieces and overlapped them
to get the shadow behind the smaller one and added
lots of the stickers from the large sticker sheet and used
lots of foam dots to pop it up and give it dimension.

It was just really fun and I love that some things that really
mean alot to you seem to go together pretty quick.

If you haven't tried Karan's sketches be sure and
pop on over to her blog (Sketchabilites) and try a few and
get caught up on some of those pages you have been
meaning to do!  And don't forget to post what you did...
We would love to see and brag about you :)

Have a great day and lots of hugs,
Teresa

Card Club for June

It's time again for our Card Club and this
month we are talking about lots of ideas
for framing. It should be fun and they get to do some
coloring and a little Tim Holtz distressing....
there is still another card I need to finish with
a framed envelope but I still need to do a little coloring
so I will share that a little later....

I used lots of different stamps and lots of bright
colors for summer and tried to use lots of the new
backround stamps that are out now.... and
It seems I am always doing a commercial for
Spellbinders but it's what I love using and all
of the cards have labels and tags on them this time.
And if you cut the pieces before--- you can run all of
them on your Grand Caliber at one time because
the platform is so big.  It's wonderful!!  It saves so much time
and that way you can create more :) --- I will be sure and take
some photos of the girls in class and post them next week...

But until then thanks so much for checking in
and a special Thank you for all of you that
left such wonderful comments on the Blog Frenzy post!
They were very much appreciated and I love hearing what
you like and don't like and it gives me ideas on
new things to do... Happy Creating today,
Teresa

featherweight iron on pellon, wooden skewers and straight pins.

My first set of projects is my 4th of July party decorations. My favorite
part of Spellbinders dies is their unique styles and their versatility. Just by
changing the parts of the dies, the papers and how you mix them-- you can
create completely different designs as you will see in my first project
compared to my second.  I had so much fun thinking of different things I
could make to decorate for a party and you could even make a banner to
go with all of this for your party too!

The project I will be highlighting is my gift card/ invitation for the party.
For this you will need white and red card stock, blue star print, red double
dot from Bo Bunny, and a tiny dark blue print. You will also need ribbons,
double sided adhesive and gold glitter and Dimensional Glue from
Sparkle and Sprinkle.

Are you ready?

First you are going to cut the white card stock 4" x 11" and score
in the center and fold in half. Cut the top right and left sides
to look like a tag and add a silver eyelet with a small circle
in the center on the front about ½" from the top.

Now you are going to cut and emboss the large die
with the Cut Fold Tuck pieces in Red and one of the outside
star in just the solid form in white cardstock using your Spellbinders™
Grand Calibur®. You will also need to cut and emboss
the small Cut Fold Tuck Puzzle Effect piece in both the white
cardstock and the blue star print.  If you find it hard to get your dies
out you might use a bit of wax paper between the die and the paper
and cut and emboss like always. This will make it so easy
for the pieces to pop out from the die with little or no effort.

After you have cut all your pieces of the dies in the solids
and patterns you can start assembling them. Gently fold all the
cut pieces in the opposite direction and tuck them under the open sides.

All of the tiny pieces in the dies can be folded over and
slipped under the opposite open space or you can leave them flat
or push them up if you like… You can also use a bone folder
on the back to make sure that your project is flat and smooth.
Glue the pieces on top of one another and add tiny foam
dots between the large and small layers to make the colors stand out.

For the front of the card you will cut a piece of red dot 4x 3 ⅜",
blue starprint 4 x 2 ⅞",  and white print 4 x 2". Layer these on each
other ½" from the bottom of the front of the card. Now you can add
your star firework from the Puzzle Effect Cut Fold Tuck Die
you made and add glitter as desired.  Tie a ribbon and glue to the top
or put through the eyelet and tie.  Add the invitation words inside
and you are all done....

I also created a napkin ring holder, cupcake pick and a cute
little table decoration that you can put on your table to make
your celebration that much more festive! You can add Spellbinders Stars,
and other dies to make the pieces more elaborate and maybe printed pieces
from the papers like this Bo Bunny print shown below.
I also added glitter to make it more shiny.

New Graphic 45

There are 2 New Collections that we just got in at
the store. One is called Ladies Diary and the other is
Happy Haunting. I have lots of ideas to make with these lines
to share but up today is a page I made using a friends photo
from their wedding.  It went perfect for this!

There were lots of pretty papers to mix so for
this page I cut lots of rectangles and layered them
over each other and added one of the pretty tags
to add journaling later. I had some prima flowers in my
stash that went well and added a pink pearl swirl
to fancy it up a bit.  This gives you a different idea
that wedding things don't have to be on the black
and white papers they have out there.  And who
couldn't resist using Graphic 45 on anything right?

Thanks so much for stopping in and be sure and
to see all the New dies they have coming out this summer!!'
They are amazing and there are lots of fantastic ideas
to share with all of you .....
so have a great day and thanks for stopping in..
Hugs and Smiles,
Teresa

that I made creating my own flower with
Donna Salazar's Carnation Creation die.
I could make these all day long in lots of colors to
decorate everything and hopefully I can put up some
tutorials soon now that we have our CHA projects in!

I used some Teresa Collins papers for this
card and an old piece of vintage lace from
my collection.  The color was perfect and I think
it added just the right amount of texture to it.
Dies used for this are:
Carnation Creations
Foliage
Labels Twenty Two

CSI Case File #23

I loved the colors of the New Case File CSI #23
and I just finished my page before the last
day... Yay!!  It was a really fun case to work on and
for this case file I needed to use
these things on my layout....

Since it's always about the photos...
I found the perfect photo of my friends husband and her daughter
on a very special date they had together to do my page.
And it was just in time for father's day too.
The journaling is on a tag I slipped under the photo telling
about the fun they had... and I am going to get a cute frame
and give this to them for a gift... they are just so very cute :)

the page is titled
"Cinderella date with my dad"

The colors on these Best Creation Princess papers went perfect
and I added lots of evidence and as much of the
testimony that I could squeeze in and I really love
the way it came out !!!  And for all you Sketchabilites fans
this is the sketch from this week too.  Looks different
in the pinks instead of the Sea World papers doesn't it.
Sooooo fun... i love it!!
Hope you are all having a fantastic scrappy and
creative weekend and don't forget to do something
amazing for all the dads in your lives!!
Lots of Hugs,
Teresa

New Sketchabilites post up today....

We have a new post up again at the Sketchabilites
blog and it's super cute and you can do lots of different
kinds of pages with it.  I used the sketch to create this
page of my DD's recent trip to Sea World with some of
my favorite papers by Bo Bunny.  Love these colors!

Here is the sketch this time:
And here is my take on it:

I tried to keep to Karan's sketch but only used
one photo for my page.  All the blues and greens
in this paper were just perfect for this picture.
There is lots of waves and tags and chipboard too.
Wish I would have gotten more of this one.....

I used circle letters from Authentique and chipboard
letters American crafts.  The chipboard was fun to
create a little bubbly sea plant scene with fishes
in the corner and I used the waves to continue on
with the pool at the bottom.

It was a really fun page to do and it's going on the
wall now to share with everyone who comes over!

Thanks so much for stopping in and seeing my
new page today and I hope you all have the
chance to stop in all the other DT's blogs and see
what great pages they have to share!

Hugs and Smiles,
Teresa

A fun trip to Durango Colorado

We got to take an amazing trip last week.  It was
fast and each day was filled with lots to see and
I have so many photos and fun memories from all
the places we got to stop. I am just going to share a
few with all of you today just to see all the amazing
things we have in the US to see....

This was my first view of Mesa Verde National Park
and I was just speechless when I stuck my head over
the canyon walls.  800 years ago a tribe of indians made
their home in the side of this canyon 100s of feet from
the canyon floor and it was just incredible.  Our
guide was a native Navajo man and it was so
wonderful to hear the stories he had to tell us.
There are quite a few of these villages in the side
of the rocks in Mesa Verde but this was my favorite.

There was an artist in Four Corners who made
hand carved plates and pottery and used native dies
to color them.  They were gorgeous and each carving
was a symbol of something special.  I would have loved
to get one of each from her!!  She was also from a
Navajo tribe and her father was the medicine man.
I so traveling and meeting people from around the
globe.  It is amazing how different each of us is :)

It's great that I got to be in 4 states in a matter
of just minutes!  Great things to buy there too!

This was just a neat bunch of rocks on the Navajo
reservation.  Not much there but it sure is pretty.

When we got to Durango Colorado we took the
train up to Silverton.  It was the most beautiful
trip and we saw so many pretty places along the way.

This is one of the streets up in Silverton.  It gets
pretty cold in the winter and they said there is only
about 200 people there then.  Lots of people
came up on the trains and there was lots of shops
and things to eat, but I was mostly interested in
all the old buildings and museums.  It was awesome!

This is a part of the town that looked like when
all the miners were there in the late 1800's.  Must
have been one rowdy town then....

The engines they use are the original steam
locomotives and they still use coal and water
to power them.  We went 50 miles up and used
half the coal in the back of the engine and 2
stops for water.  Soooo fun!!

When we got back to town we found they had
a museum that had lots and lots of the old train
things on display.. I love the old model T cars
and everyone was really nice there.

This is one of the Old Hotels in Durango.  Inside
was just beautiful and all the furnishings and lights
and things were still there.  The town is lined up
on Main street with lots of old buildings and lots
of places to eat and things to do.  This town has
so many outdoors things to do and I would love
to live here someday...

Our last stop and our favorite on our trip
is to Zion National Park.  We went a different
way in coming from Colorado and went by
an old town that they used to film alot of
the old Westerns in.  It was really pretty and
there were lots of people there this time
out hiking in the beautiful weather.

So that's it for today and thanks so much for
stopping in and seeing some of the wonderful
places we got to go...

Our Day at Sea World

I am working on lots of projects that I can't show yet
so I thought that I would share some of our recent trip
to Sea World in San Diego.  It was really fun and we hadn't
been in a while so they have changed alot of things and
it is really, really nice!!

They have an amazing polar bear enclosure where
they can walk right by you behind plexiglass.  They
are huge and yet they are really playful!

This was my favorite because it was like when
we go to Hawaii and swim out in the ocean.  There
were so many Sea turtles and it's such a cool thing
that they take such good care of them for all of us to see.

Here is Nicole in her Sea World Wet Suit.
I hope someday she will get to work there
and train the animals and help with the
ones that get hurt.  She was so happy to
hang out with them!!

I am sharing this because Dolphins can splash really
really big too!  They were soaked!

 How awesome is this?

This is the part that I love about scrapping.
It's the stories.  These cute seals are so loud
and so funny when it comes to eating.  They
barked and barked until someone threw them
a fish and then they were quiet for a minute and
then got really loud again!!  It was so funny!!

And this is just amazing because if
you think of how huge these animals are
and seeing that it can jump up and do flips?
And they did all kinds of other tricks for
the trainers and that was really cool too!

So that is it today but I have lots of ideas
to share and maybe lots of tutorials in
the future...  just thinking ahead :)
Have a great day,
Teresa
